A Better Connected Essex
Overview
A Better Connected Essex
‘A Better Connected Essex’ is our new draft transport strategy.
Also known as our Local Transport Plan (LTP) for Essex, it sets out our transport vision and priorities for Essex and how we plan to deliver our desired outcomes. It will set important transport priorities to inform our future decisions and actions, and will help unlock future funding opportunities.
More information is available in our consultation document.
Why now?
Essex is entering a transitional phase, with the election of a Mayor for Greater Essex and changes to local government structures. While a new transport plan will eventually be needed by the Mayoral Combined County Authority, this interim strategy ensures:
- We meet legal requirements during the transition
- Clear policy direction for local plans
- A foundation for future transport planning
- Support for funding opportunities
Have your say
We held a first consultation in summer 2024 on key themes and outcomes. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
We’re now consulting on the full draft strategy and 13 area-specific implementation plans, which outline potential projects across Essex.
Your feedback will help shape the final plan.
